Project Goal Summary
India Waste Management is a project team organized under Georgia Tech's Engineers for a Sustianable World Organization.
The members of the project are working closely with a non-profit in India, the Nirmaan Organization, to develop a sustianable waste management solution for a small Indian slum, Zari.ξ
Because space is very limited in Zari, proper waste disposal and overflowing landfills are a typical problem. This project group is designing vertical compost units that can be used collectively by 2-3 families. This is an optimal solution to limit space taken up on ground by the compost unit, while also reducing the amount of organic waste that makes it to the landfills.ξ
