Project Goal Summary
For the past four months, I have been working to create a community garden in Amagansett, New York. I am starting my role as an ECOLEADER because I believe it is vital to learning as much as I can about other projects. The goal of my project is to educate young individuals on the importance of healthy living and to encourage community participation. Due to the pandemic, unfortunately, I am not yet able to set up the garden. However, I am being supported by individuals within my community and am very hopeful. In the garden, I hope to plant a range of fruits and vegetables which will be free for anyone who wishes to consume the products. Additionally, any individual will be able to participate in the garden. I am hoping I can accomplish this project by the end of 2021.

Project Goals and News
I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of healthy eating and community building. While I love the town I live in, there is not always access to affordable produce, especially because many grocery stores cater to wealthier clients. This ignores the simple fact that there are many individuals living in our community who do not have access to fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables. I believe that by creating this garden, I cannot only help improve this situation, but I can get the community to become more involved and educate the youth in my town on the importance of the environment. I will measure my progress by the number of people involved but am not too worried. If I can get even ten participants to join, I will be incredibly happy.
