Project Goal Summary
The Sustainable Brother Program is a pilot program to engage brothers of the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity to make sustainability a part of their daily lives. It is dual concentration program, focusing on 'Education' and 'Action' aspect of sustainability. The Education aspect prepares participating members for a sustainability oriented future and informs them on the variety of envirommental issues we are facing. The Action component encourages them to actively implement sustainabilitity in the day-to-day actions of their own life. Both those compoments work hand in hand to encourage members to bring sustainability to their lives on their own pace.ξ

We have created a spreadsheet that lists all the different projects members can engage in, and they have a choice to engage in the projects they like. There are two levels of certification that depend on the number of action and education projects the members committ to and follow through with. We also collect informaiton about their progress on the certification process and share resources with them regularly. Each project a participating member takes up and completes gives them a certain amount of points. Easy things like using a reusable water bottle are worth less points compared to taking a sustainability orientated class.ξ

The award is model off on a badge system and different level of badges are:
1. SustainabilityξKnowledge- For expression commitment to the growth of sustainability by participating in 25 sustainable brother pointsξ
2. SustainabilityξAwareness- For expression commitment to the growth of sustainability by participating in 50 sustainable brother pointsξ
3. SustainabilityξImmersion-For expression commitment to the growth of sustainability by participating in 75 sustainable brother pointsξ
4. SustainabilityξAdvocacy-For expression commitment to the growth of sustainability by participating in 100 sustainable brother pointsξ
