Hi, my name is Nicole Rios, and I am a student at Leuzinger High School, located in Lawndale, CA. I am in an academy called “ECA” (Environmental Careers Academy) that specializes in preparing students for possible careers in the environmental field. I am currently working with my group on receiving our NWF Certification by doing a project. For our project, we decided to start a composting practice on campus, where students throw away their unwanted produce and scarps into our compost bin to create compost that will then be used for the garden. The purpose of our project is to reduce on-campus produce waste while creating a sustainable agricultural practice.
