Hello! My name is Whitney Kroschel. As a grad student in the natural resources department, I hope to bring awareness to my campus, as well as the community, about efficient water use practices and sustainability. Discouraging the use of bottled water is one example. Much of it comes from Texas and California (coincidentally), which are two states in desperate need to conserve water. Yet both Aquifina and Nestle bottled water, among others, comes from these areas.
Thank you so much Whitney for sharing! It is great to see that you are making efforts to stay sustainable this summer!
Hi there! I'm Hannah, and I'm excited make composting a regular part of daily life. And to use compost in the garden of course!
Thanks Hannah! It's really neat to hear that you are composting! definitely a great way to stay sustainable this summer!
Hello! My name is Natalie Frendberg. I plan on staying sustainable this summer by riding my bike everywhere and frequenting the local farmers market and thrift shops!
HI, I'm Dan and this summer we are teaching the residents of our apartment building how to grow tomatoes, herbs, and and potentially popcorn in containers in our parking lot.
Hi there! I'm Ísis, this summer I start my own garden with different herbs and vegetables. I’m very excited to eat the food from my garden. Also, I would like to make composting a regular part of daily life and to use compost in my garden. Another thing is that I plan on staying sustainable this summer by riding my bike everywhere and frequenting the local farmers market.
Hello! My name is Jamie and the ways I plan on being sustainable this summer are by gardening, composting, and recycling. We've been recycling for over a year now, and we started gardening last year, but we've expanded the garden this year and the composting is new!
I'm promoting biking instead of driving places to reduce emissions such as car exhaust. Thus far I've gotten four people to purchase bikes. Now people are biking to get their groceries, stay healthy, see friends, go to the beach, and so much more! I know only five of us is a small number, but you have to start somewhere! All by simply abandoning their car and hopping on their new two wheels.
Hey guys thank you so much for sharing your sustainability efforts! While you wait look through the website comment on forums! The winner will be announced after 10pm ET so stay tuned!
