Recently I watched The Little Things by Darcy Turenne (available on iTunes). The Little Things is a snowboard movie project based on environmentally conscious riders who are inspirational through their riding, as well as their sustainable ways of living and thinking. I highly recommend it not only for the amazing snowoarding footage but the perspective of the boarders. The idea is that we can all do "Little Things" everyday to impact our environment. Some boarders had the goal of not using any fossil fuels for transportation, they converted a VW bus to run on recycled cooking oil. Cool right? You have the smell of french fries wherever you go! Another boarder built a house out of all recycled materials.
My ittle thing is to right size my consumption. I downsized from a gas guzzling SUV to a fully electric car. Also in my food consumption, I try not to waste anything, not only do I save money but I reduce water, fuel and loss of animal life by only consuming what I need. If everyone could do some little things, they will all add up to something big.

Hi there!
I think a great way to manifest our values is also to converse about them. I live with a couple of people who have mostly plant-based diets and they've really inspired me to think creatively about how I cook. I've started to cook a lot less meat and have incorporated tofu and egg substitutes in thinking about preparing meals. At first it seemed like a big change, but subtly substituting little things into my meal planning hasn't been as difficult as I originally thought it would be. I've also tried really hard not to generate any food waste when I cook and eat. It's as simple as packaging and refrigerating the leftovers well!
After camping for 5 days, I also realized how little water I actually need to use in a day. Aside from drinking water, water used to clean dishes and for other household things can be reduced dramatically if one is just mindful about turning off the tap, or adjusting shower heads and other things in the house. Perspective has really helped in making the little things and adjustments matter. Thanks for starting this conversation!

@Rosemary Reed
Hi Rosemary,
I do many little things throughout the day or week. I usually recycle what I can from what I use throughout the week. For example if I use a water bottle or milk jugs. I also turn off water when I don't need it. I don't let water run longer than it needs to along with teaching my family there should also save water. I try my best to not waste food and when I have to, everything that can be composted I put in the bin outside of my home. The little things do help I believe and I will continue to do them. Thank you for the recommendation. I will look into the movie!
